The brief

Spark UK were looking to refresh their flagship campaign, All Star Advent, for its third year. Our goal was ambitious – to develop a brand that’s engaging, bold and universally appealing, for teachers, parents and teenagers alike. It needed to be timeless, echoing Spark UK’s enduring message.

The Strategy & Branding

Partnering closely with the youthful energy of Spark UK, we delved deep to understand their challenges and motivations. Founded in 2020 by then-14-year old Conor Warren, Spark UK emerged from his desire to reshape the mental health narrative post-Covid. What began as a passionate debate among friends transformed into an award-winning beacon, designed by young people, for young people. With an expansive reach in over 300 schools across the UK, Spark UK’s mission was clear: spark essential conversations on mental health.

Enter All Star Advent, their flagship campaign. Evoking the charm of an advent calendar, every December this initiative serves up a daily dose of celebrity wisdom on mental health – from the gravitas of Dame Judi Dench, to the energy of Fearne Cotton, to the wit of Stephen Fry.

We immersed ourselves in the brand and assessed their digital footprint, recognising the need for a harmonious blend of sensitivity and dynamism. December is noisy, and our mission was to ensure Spark UK wasn’t just another voice, it was the voice. To make it compelling, encourage involvement, and have a strong call to action to take part or donate.

The design magic

Harnessing the warmth and colours of Christmas, we crafted an illustration set that was both bold and accessible. We gave the logo a personalised touch, and paired it with a typeface that was confident yet welcoming, all complemented by the energetic, youthful doodles. The tone of voice was simple and relatable, bypassing jargon for authenticity. The outcome: a flexible, consistent design toolkit for a seamless journey across platforms.

The result

The new All Star Advent isn’t just a campaign; it’s an emotion. It’s the warmth of December blended with crucial conversations. And as it grows each year, so does its vibrant echo, touching hearts and sparking dialogues. It’s where magic and passion meet purpose.
